happiness
is sitting on the floor -
two mason jars with pomegranate juice,
five olives and a loaf of bread,
a mango and a yellow knife and friendship.
happiness
is unexpected sunshine,
flowers in a vase on the windowsill,
cuffed jeans and no socks,
a long walk to wherever we want to go.
happiness
is a reading room painted by sunlight,
four unread books,
and a fifth held open in your lap,
and nowhere to be for as long as you're here.
happiness
is joyful gratitude.
My friend Jessina drove me and Lew to Whole Foods yesterday evening and we bought olives and cheese and rich tangy chewy crusty bread and mangoes and coconut water (for Lew - she hated it) and sparkling pomegranate Italian soda. for seventeen dollars we had a feast on the floor of my dorm room before going to The Battle of the Bean, a battle of bands/indie groups on campus who were raising money to change the coffee at our dining hall and for some trip to Honduras involving coffee. Note the name of the event. Lew was playing viola in a group, and it was wonderful.
Today it is sunny and I am playing around with my camera and don't need socks or a coat, and intend on walking to the library to read and then getting Thai takeout. I'll study for my OT test tomorrow, no school on Monday, and two weeks until I am home for break! I am blessed.
