the in-between times

It's only two weeks until I go home (back to raspberries and apricot-cranberry-oatmeal scones and pumpkin muffins and my mother arranging limes in vases) but I was also just there, which makes focusing on things like, oh . . . school, difficult. Still, I am trucking along here in the vast flatlands. A few quotes that have been keeping me alive recently:

"I wish that I could show you, when you are lonely or in the darkness, the astonishing light of your own being." Hafiz of Persia

"We must be willing to get rid of the life we have planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us." Joseph Campbell

"Things that matter most must never be at the mercy of things that matter least." Goethe

Ce qui embellit le désert, dit le petit prince, c'est qu'il cache un puits quelque part...
"What makes the desert beautiful," says the little prince, "is that somewhere it hides a well." - Le Petit Prince
