Back Again!

I've been exhausted the past couple of days, but Titus and I got back surprisingly quickly from the Upper West Side today, so I have time to update. Naomi came with Titus and I into the city on Tuesday, but the rest of the afternoons I have had a few hours to wander (or sit and read, as the case has been) while Titus is at VBS. Yesterday I found shelter from an absolute downpour under the trees on the side steps at the Museum of Natural History, and today I read in the museum's surrounding park on a bench. I also took a bunch of pictures of people passing by and sitting on the benches around me, which was very fun. I am sitting here typing this with Asher sleeping in my left arm, sucking on his pacifier. He gets cuter by the day.

It was pleasantly sunny today, hot but not humid! Which meant that the shade was lovely and the heat was existant but not oppressive, and sitting and reading for a few hours was not a problem. I also found the greatest thrift store on West 80th and Columbus that was stuffed full of amazing vintage and designer treasures. Unfortunately for the $15 in my wallet, it was generally priced between $400 and $4,000. I found this perfect Peter Som dress in a plum purple: a tea-lengthed ball gown, really, in my size. It would have looked incredible on me, and it was such a steal at $3,900! Couture though it may have been, I don't think that was particularly reasonable for secondhand. Plus, they can't do that much business: people who drop a few grand on a single dress don't purchase dresses at funky thrift stores. They buy them custom or from the glitzy Chanel boutique on 5th Avenue. Humph.

Titus is a bit ungrateful basically all the time, and fights everything to do with manners, politeness, and resists being blamed for anything and everything. Tonight at dinner he was leaning and fell off his chair, then jumped up and began to blame it on Naomi. I said "TITUS. I just watched the whole thing and that was your own fault, don't even TRY to blame that on anyone." And without missing a beat he says "But you guys were making me tell about VBS and I was concentrating on what I was saying and couldn't pay attention to things in my sideview so I fell over!" Future lawyer? I think so.
